Track Adjuster – Maintenance & Installation Precautions
1. General Safety

Park on level ground and lower the attachment (blade/Bucket) to the ground before starting any work.

Relieve track tension completely by slowly loosening the grease valve (grease-type) or releasing hydraulic pressure (hydraulic-type) – never stand in front of the valve.

Use proper lifting equipment – track adjusters are heavy; use a hoist or jack with adequate capacity.
2. Disassembly & Inspection
-
Mark alignment of the adjuster components before disassembly to aid correct reassembly.

Inspect for:
-
Bent or scored cylinder rod.
-
Worn seals, cracks, or corrosion.
-
Damaged grease fitting or relief valve.
-

Replace seals as a set – never reuse old seals after disassembly.
3. Installation Precautions
-
Clean all parts thoroughly before assembly – dirt will destroy new seals immediately.
-
Lubricate seals and threads with clean hydraulic oil or recommended grease to prevent damage during assembly.
-
Align the adjuster correctly with the track frame and IDLER bracket – misalignment will cause premature failure.
-
Tighten mounting Bolts to manufacturer’s torque specification – use a torque wrench.
-
Bleed air from a hydraulic-type adjuster according to the service manual.
4. Post-Installation & Testing
-
Pressurize slowly – for grease-type, pump grease gradually and stop immediately if abnormal resistance is felt.

Check for leaks – operate the track slowly and inspect around seals and fittings.
-
Adjust track sag to factory specification (too tight → wear/damage; too loose → derailing).
-
Re-torque bolts after initial operation (heat/vibration can loosen them).
5. Disposal & Environmental Care
-
Capture and dispose of old grease/hydraulic oil properly – do not release into soil or water.
-
Worn seals and scrap parts – follow local regulations for disposal.
