Maintenance precautions for excavators during flood season and rainy season
1. Precautions for Storing Excavators During Rainy Season
Store the machine in a Dry indoor location and thoroughly clean it to remove dirt and debris from the machine;
2. When parking outdoors, check that the fuel tank and hydraulic oil tank caps are securely closed to prevent rainwater from entering the tanks and causing unnecessary trouble;
3. Inspect the machine and repair any worn or damaged parts, replacing them with new parts if necessary;
4. Clean the main air filter element and lubricate all lubrication points. Retract all hydraulic cylinders and apply grease to the exposed hydraulic cylinder rods;
5. Remove the battery and store it in a dry and safe place, or turn off the main power switch, or disconnect the negative cable of the battery;
6. Pay attention to the wear of the sealing ring on the engine oil dipstick to avoid rainwater leaking into the engine oil, and also check the oil fill port; if parked outdoors, cover it with a plastic bag if necessary for added security;
7. Users of hydraulic Breakers should store the breaker upright to prevent the piston from rusting due to water ingress.
2. Precautions for Excavator Operations During Rainy Season
1. Before construction, observe the surrounding environment to check if the construction site is soft or if vehicles may become stuck;
2. Before construction in mountainous areas during the rainy season, check if there is a risk of landslides, collapses, or mudslides on the mountain;
3. During operation, if you feel the excavator starting to sink, stop work immediately and find a solid support point to brace the vehicle with the boom to prevent further sinking;
4. Stay vigilant when working in the rain, and ensure that the excavator's headlights, work lights, top lights, instrument lights, and wipers are functioning properly during nighttime work to ensure safety;
5. After construction, be sure to park the excavator in a safe area that is higher in elevation and closer to the living area, away from areas prone to collapses or rising river waters, ensuring that the excavator has sufficient fuel for a quick evacuation if necessary.
3. Emergency Response for Excavator Accidents
1.In case of an excavator being submerged in water or overturning, do not start the machine again. Contact a service engineer immediately, or call the service hotline;
2. Do not take blind measures; communicate with the service engineer to determine the best rescue plan;
3. Based on the rescue plan and on-site conditions, organize and implement measures such as drainage and hoisting to remove the excavator from the danger zone for repairs.
If we can't avoid it, how can we reduce losses?
After the water level recedes, the excavator must be lifted to a safe position and cleaned. Then, each system of the excavator should be inspected and repaired.
For the power unit: 1. Disassemble the air filter: Check if there is water in the intake system; if water has entered the cylinder, the engine must be disassembled. Be careful not to use the method of rotating the crankshaft to drain water from the injector hole, as this may damage the cylinder liner assembly.
2. Check the engine oil: Look at the oil level on the dipstick; check if the oil contains mud and water. The best approach is to completely dismantle and repair the engine. If conditions prevent this, partial disassembly and cleaning should be done on the machine. After cleaning, replace with new engine oil, oil filter, and other maintenance items.
3. Check the diesel tank: If water has entered, first drain the water from the bottom of the tank, then empty the diesel for later use after sedimentation. Use pressurized water to clean the tank, and wipe away water stains and dirt with a cloth, paying attention to the tank's partitions and corners, striving for cleanliness. Finally, rinse the tank with diesel; remove and clean the low-pressure and return pipes from the tank to the fuel pump, and blow dry with compressed air.
For the hydraulic system and transmission components: 1. The hydraulic tank is sealed; if there is mud or water intrusion, drain the oil and water from the tank, clean the tank and pipelines, then add hydraulic oil and replace the filter.
2. Unscrew the oil drain plug on the hydraulic pump; if there is no water in the discharged oil, check the control valve and other components (including the hydraulic oil cooler); if no water is still found, it can be confirmed that the main pump, high-pressure oil circuit, and work devices are normal.
Electrical components and electrical wiring: 1. Remove the starter, generator, and other electrical equipment from the excavator, clean with diesel, and dry.
2. Check the entire electrical wiring and connections for any rust or damage, grinding away rust or replacing relevant components. Finally, start the machine to check if there are any alarms, and debug whether the excavator operates normally.
