Dust Is the Real Killer For Undercarriage Parts ?

By hour 380, our test undercarriage looked less like new parts and more like a dust fossil. The carrier Rollers were completely buried in a mixture of powder and grit. This is exactly what kills cheap — and even expensive — undercarriage components.

Why? Because dust works like sandpaper. Once it breaks through the seal, it grinds down the bushing, the shaft, and the roller interior. Leaks follow. Then seizure. Then downtime.

We stopped, cleaned everything, and inspected the seals carefully. To our surprise, they were still intact. No dust ingress. No leaks.

But this was a warning sign.
